"True Karate-do is this: that in daily life,
one's mind and body be trained and developed
in a spirit of humility; and that in critical times,
one be devoted utterly to the cause of justice"

- Master Gichin Funakoshi, founder of Shotokan karate

Traditional Japanese Karate-do

Shin Do Kan School of Karate has been teaching traditional Shotokan Karate-do since 1994.

Our dojo (training hall) is located in St. Kevin's College, Ballygall Road, Finglas.

Karate-do means "the way of the empty hand".  This implies that karate is a way of approaching life and that you are not only learning to defend yourself with your bare hands, but you are also learning to avoid confrontation and strife, and develop a more positive outlook on life.

In addition to Shotokan Karate, at Shin Do Kan we also practice the Japanese Long Staff (Bo) and Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan.
